Caitlin Firer is a senior attorney at Kim & LaVoy, S.C. with a remarkable track record of experience and accomplishments. For over 20 years, Caitlin has represented thousands of clients with both passion and skill in cases ranging from sexual assault, child abuse, homicide, computer sex crimes, domestic violence, illegal drug offenses, drunk driving, property crimes, theft, and more.
Caitlin has litigated over 100 jury trials and has obtained not guilty verdicts in cases involving first degree intentional homicide, sexual assault, illegal drug possession, weapons violations, and other offenses. She has also litigated hundreds of legal challenges from Miranda violations, to illegal searches, to the admissibility of evidence (including expert testimony). Caitlin is also highly skilled at defending cases involving mental health issues having represented hundreds of clients suffering from mental illness and litigating dozens of mental health/NGI (“insanity”) trials.
For her outstanding work, Caitlin has been recognized with several prestigious awards including the Chiarkas Award (2021) from the Office of the Wisconsin State Public Defender for leadership “exemplifying an unwavering dedication and passion to defend clients in some of the toughest cases;” the Martin Hanson Memorial Prize (2019) from the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers for obtaining a not guilty jury verdict in a difficult First Degree Intentional Homicide case; and recognition as one of the Top 15 Up and Coming Attorneys in Minnesota by the Minnesota Lawyer publication in 2006.
Caitlin is a member of the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Milwaukee Bar Association, Waukesha County Bar Association, and Washington County Bar Association. In her free time, she enjoys photography, taking walks, and is a plant enthusiast. Caitlin is also fluent in Spanish.
